Job Summary:

The Biomedical Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, calibration, and overall operational condition of all water treatment systems, dialysis machines, and related medical and mechanical equipment. This role ensures the safety and functionality of equipment used in patient care across assigned clinic(s), supporting both clinical operations and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are essential to the successful performance of this position. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed:

Technical Equipment Maintenance & Repair:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain medical equipment as per manufacturer guidelines.

  • Repair, test, calibrate, clean, and disinfect dialysis machines, reverse osmosis (RO) systems, and water distribution loops according to protocols. Knowledge of Fresenius & Tablo hemodialysis machines.

  • Perform electrical safety checks on dialysis machines and related equipment.

  • Maintain and update preventive maintenance schedules and accurate service records for all equipment.

  • Be familiar with operation and instruction manuals; capable of starting up and shutting down clinic equipment as needed.

Water Treatment Systems:

  • Conduct water quality testing (e.g., free/total chlorine, water hardness) per protocol.

  • Perform safety checks and routine maintenance on pretreatment equipment (e.g., carbon tanks, water softeners, UV lamps, ultrafilters).

  • Collect and prepare water and dialysate samples for microbiological and AAMI analysis.

  • Disinfect central bicarbonate system, RO system, mixing tanks, distribution loops, and dialysis machines as required.

Inventory & Supplies:

  • Assist with purchasing and supply management; place orders and perform weekly/month-end inventory counts.

  • Implement and maintain inventory control practices (e.g., FIFO).

  • Assist in receiving, storing, and stocking supplies appropriately.

  • Mix bicarbonate and acid concentrate solutions per protocol.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure all duties are performed in compliance with company policies, protocols, and applicable federal and state regulations.

  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to OSHA standards.

  • Maintain current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

  • Monitor the physical environment for safety risks; coordinate necessary repairs.

  • Be familiar with emergency equipment and procedures.

Collaboration & Training:

  • Instruct clinical staff on proper use and care of equipment.

  • Present technical summaries in QAPI meetings as required.

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with Clinic Administrators to ensure operational needs are met.

  • Promote customer service standards and support a positive clinic environment.

  • Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and required training sessions.

  • Assist with technical training for clinical staff, including initial and annual competency assessments.

Requirements:

To perform this role successfully, the Biomedical Technician must be able to meet the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent — Required

  • Valid driver's license in the state of employment with a clean driving record — Required

  • Willingness to travel to multiple locations within the Phoenix area — Required

  • Ability to distinguish all primary colors — Required

  • Previous experience in dialysis, hospital, or medical equipment repair — Preferred

  • Ability to function effectively under stress and in emergency situations

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Compensation: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
